About Us

Kimleigh Labradors is  a small hobby kennel, located on seven acres in beautiful Great Falls, Virginia. The name Kimleigh was derived from a combination of my 2 daughter’s names.

Our first Labrador was purchased in 1982 , from Amberfield Kennels in NJ. With Bailey (a yellow female) I began my love for Obedience. I competed in Obedience until 2000. In the late 1980’s I made the jump into the conformation ring with the black boy I had purchased from Alegra Kennels in MI. I purchased 2 more black boys over the years from Windfall Kennels, and slowly moved out of the Obedience ring altogether, and began traveling to more Specialties. Needless to say, none of the boys panned out as great conformation dogs, but you couldn’t beat their temperaments. I do love my boys!

In 2002, I was blessed to have my foundation bitch, Windfall’s Star Wars @ Kimleigh, sent to me, by Annie Cogo and Nancy Chargo. “Paddy” was only 4 mos. old at the time. I was used to boys, so when I took one look at her little pencil head, I said, OK, I’ll just wait! She turned out to be one of the smartest, dogs I have ever owned. And a nose on her!! She is one of the only dogs I have ever owned who when she would run away after the deer, would back track exactly the way she went. She was too smart for the show ring, and didn’t enjoy showing as she got older. Her job proved to be the greatest in the whelping box. Bred to Ch. Borador’s By George, she produced some beautiful puppies. From her first breeding I got my first home-bred Champion Kimleigh’s Once In A Blue Moon. All of my current dogs are based on Paddy.

My dogs are pets first, show dogs second. I breed one litter a year, and prefer to place my puppies in loving pet homes. My puppies are sold on limited registration, and all parents have age appropriate clearances. Temperament and health are most important to me, followed by that beautiful “English” look.

Over the years we have lived in NJ, MI, Ill, and now VA. In each area I have met such wonderful friends that I continue to be close to. The Labrador World is truly a “Special” group of people.
